The 18th edition of The Valor Bowl featured former staff members coaching against each other as Harry O’Neill’s (Avon Grove) West squad defeated Pat Clark’s (Unionville) team from the East. This win makes it two in a row for the West side, who looks to begin a winning tradition after years of East dominance.

The game was highlighted by stellar defensive play from Coatesville’s Kevin Kirk who scored touchdowns via a blocked punt and an interception while adding another interception for good measure. Kirk intercepted West Chester East’s Jon Jon Roberts- a Navy commit-and scampered 32 yards for 6 points just after halftime.

Later, Roberts would connect on passing scores with Tyler Marmo (Unionville) and Rustin’s Ryan Loucks to build a comeback, but it was not enough to defeat O’Neill’s defense.
Offensively, Braden Harper of Downingtown West scored for the West, along with Dan Neuhaus (Bishop Shanahan) to help propel their victory.

The game was a bit of a swan song for long-time Valor Bowl coach and kicking instructor Jeff Dinnocenti, whose son, Matt, connected on a 20 yard field goal to help the East. It was too little, too late, though as the West captured the victory at West Chester Rustin High School.
